Making Frozen Daiquiris
Frozen daiquiri recipes are easy to make, especially if you have a good blender like the popular Oster Beehive blender. A good blender with a strong motor is able to easy to crush ice, which is absolutely essential if you want to make a good daiquiris.
It's also best if the blender container is made of glass or metal instead of plastic. The glass and metal blender containers don't stain or crack, although if you drop a glass container on a hard floor you could be cleaning up some broken glass!
Here are a couple of great frozen daiquiri recipes:
Strawberry Daiquiri
Mango Daiquiri
For either of the frozen daiquiri recipes listed above, take all ingredients and place them in the blender container.
Choose the most powerful blend setting. If your blender has a pulse features, here's a good chance to use it. Hit the pulse button a few times to break the cubes up a bit.
After the ice cubes are broken up, use a medium power selection to continue crushing the ice. Blend until you reach the desired smoothness.
It's best to start off with the amount of ice slowly add more if needed. This concoction can then be poured into a chilled glass and served.

Fun Smoothie Recipes
Smoothies are a fun and tasty way to get your daily quota of five or more servings of fruit and vegetables-- they rely on naturally occurring sugars for their sweetness, and because they're finely blended, you don't have to gnaw your way through all that raw fiber. And there's so much room for experimentation, you can try something different every day.
It's so simple, in fact, that you can even get your kids to participate for a quick and fun snack. Let them pick their own ingredients. They will love watching you put everything the blender, and because smoothies are a lot like milkshakes, your kids will love their fruits and vegetables like you've never seen before. They'll think it's a treat! You don't have to tell them it's good for them; that can be your secret.
Below are two basic types of smoothie recipes. You will need a good blender - I have an Oster Beehive Blender - for both. The first recipe is a typical fruit smoothie, sweet and light. The second recipe is a "green smoothie" which contains vegetables and protein-- it may seem odd at first, but try it out.
Traditional Fruit Smoothie: 318 cal
1 banana, frozen
3 strawberries
1/2c chopped pineapple
a dash of orange juice
Vary the amount of orange juice to bring mixture to desired consistency. Blend until liquid circulates freely in the blender.
Green Smoothie: 401 cal
3T peanut butter
1c spinach or kale
1 apple, chopped
1/2 lemon, juiced
Blend.
If you do choose to modify our recipes, remember that smoothies need a creamy "base" for texture, like banana, yogurt, or peanut butter. Using frozen fruit or adding ice will help the texture if you don't want to include any of these items.

What is a Blender?
The term blender typically refers to a kitchen appliance that used to mix things together. There are hand-blenders, which are slower speed blender used for making things like mayonnaise or whipped cream, and there are electric blenders, which, with their higher power, can be used to even puree food or chop ice.
Electric blenders consist of a base which contains the motor and a mixing container, usually made of either glass, metal, or plastic. In the bottom of the container are found the mixing blades. When the container is set on the base, gear teeth at the bottom of the container mesh with gear teeth in the base so the motor can rotate the blades. The blades at the bottom of the container are usually removable so they can be cleaned.
Most blenders have a selectable speed, meaning that you can choose the strength and speed with which you want the blades to turn. Some blenders use buttons to select the speed while others used a knob.
Today, one finds blenders in almost all kitchens. Some of the most popular manufacturers of blenders include Kitchen Aid and Oster. The Oster Beehive Blender is one of the most popular models sold today. Amazon and most other kitchen an appliance stores usually have a large selection of blenders available.
